Women in the Gig Economy (NWBC)

This brief describes the growing role of women in the gig economy (independent contractors, freelancers) and draws attention to gaps—especially in pay, benefits, and support. It shows that women account for a rising share of gig workers, but face larger hourly rate disparities (e.g. 28 %) and unique challenges balancing caregiving, administrative burdens, and unpredictable income.
